What is hospice?

Hospice is a specialized type of care that provides comfort and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. It prioritizes quality of life, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Hospice care is not about curing an illness but helping patients live as comfortably as possible with dignity and compassion. Volunteers play a vital role in offering companionship, emotional support, and assistance to patients and their loved ones during this important time.

What do hospice volunteers do?

Hospice volunteers provide vital support to patients and their loved ones, offering companionship, comfort, and a helping hand during challenging times. Whether it’s sitting with a patient to share stories, assisting with light tasks, providing bereavement support, or helping at events and in the office, every volunteer makes a meaningful difference.

Do you have a specialized skill or interest—such as maintenance, cosmetology, homemaking, legal expertise, or even just a knack for fixing things? These talents can bring an extra layer of care and support to patients and families, meeting unique needs in meaningful ways. Volunteers bring kindness, compassion, and the gifts of their time and abilities, helping to create comfort and connection when it’s needed most.
